Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a difficult period, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

Success also means the Russian has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
